DEERHEART is the pseudonym of singer / songwriter / multi-instrumentalist Tom Ciorciari. Actively creating music since childhood, Tom performed regionally throughout the 1980’s, both solo and as a member of bands such as Boston’s The Pets , before putting music on hold to raise a family.

In 2007, Tom returned with a vengeance, releasing the first full-length DEERHEART cd, Groovy World, in February, and its follow-up, the 7 song Summer Streets EP, just four months later.

With Groovy World, Tom established himself as a writer of melodic, insightful, often acoustic-based rock’n roll, that, though it takes its cue from the Alt Country movement, is not limited to one single style, his lyrics addressing issues and concerns that cross generations. Standout tracks include the blue-eyed soul of first single “B.P.S.N.”, the folksy ballad “Tuesday Morning” (chosen to be the anthem of the Fealgood Foundation, in their effort to raise money for ailing 9/11 responders), and “The Rest Of Our Lives”, an emotional duet with Marie Koopa. This abundance of musical ideas was expanded upon impressively on Summer Streets, which takes a more electrified, singles-oriented turn, as embodied by the latin-tinged title track and the r'n b groover "Shaken". In September DEERHEART will release an internet-only single, the driving rocker, "The Streets Of New York", to coincide with a series of 9/11-related performances throughout Brooklyn and New York.

DEERHEART has received airplay on WUSB, Radio Crystal Blue and WBAB, and Tom has performed solo acoustic in recent months at 169 Bar, The Parkside Lounge, Tiger Lily Café and Kupferburg Hall at Queens College.
